Eligibility: Benefits eligible faculty who meet the following criteria and complete all assignments (see below). **Staff and Instructors with Teaching Assistant I, Teaching Assistant II, and Graduate Research Assistant appointments do not qualify for enrollment and will not be eligible for the incentive.**

To ensure successful participation in the Adobe Express Institute, applicants must meet the following criteria: 

  1. Adobe Tool Experience
    1. Applicants should be new to Adobe and be willing to implement the tools in their course
    2. Those with prior experience may still be eligible but must commit to using the tools in new and innovative ways
  2. Planned Course Integration
    1. Applicants must integrate Adobe Express into at least one course after the institute.
    2. Course titles and codes should be provided for tracking and support purposes.
  3. Implementation Strategy
    1. Applicants must outline a clear plan for introducing Adobe Express in their course(s), including preliminary ideas for student engagement.
  4. Assessment of Student Learning & Engagement
    1. Applicants must describe how they will measure the impact of Adobe Express, such as through assessments, feedback mechanisms, or engagement metrics.
  5. Student Feedback Collection
    1. Participants should have a strategy for collecting and sharing student feedback on their Adobe Express experience.
    2. Methods may include surveys, reflections, or class discussions.
  6. Follow-Up Participation
    1. Participants must agree to a follow-up evaluation to report on the effectiveness of Adobe Express in their course(s).
  7. Student Work Sharing (Optional but Encouraged)
    1. Faculty are encouraged to share examples of student work (with permission) for promotional and educational purposes.

Course Description

The Adobe Express Faculty Institute consists of four 45-minute sessions. Participants will be introduced to applications included in Adobe Express, an online tool that is free for all UTSA faculty, staff, and students. Attendees will be able to complete short projects that will give them the opportunity to produce artifacts that they can use to improve their digital literacy skills. Participants may attend the sessions synchronously on Zoom or asynchronously on Panopto. 

  • Apply Design Principles: Create visually engaging course graphics, videos, and presentations tailored for digital platforms, including Canvas, social media, and print.
  • Develop Multimedia Content: Produce short-form videos incorporating recorded footage, graphics, and audio to enhance engagement and communication.
  • Utilize Adobe Express for Digital Storytelling: Design interactive web pages and presentations using Adobe Express, integrating text, images, and multimedia elements effectively.
  • Optimize Digital Assets for Various Platforms: Export and format images, videos, and presentations to ensure compatibility and accessibility across different mediums.
  • Adapt Digital Content for Instructional Use: Translate workshop projects into course-relevant assignments, fostering digital literacy and creative communication in the classroom

Virtual sessions with recorded content for those who cannot attend during the session.

  • Create course graphics (April 1, 11:00am-noon) Virtual
  • Making short form videos (April 8, 11:00am-noon) Virtual
  • Designing Express pages (April 15, 11:00am-noon) Virtual
  • Creating presentations with Express (April 22, 11:00am-noon) Virtual

Time Commitment and Course Completion Requirements

The time commitment for this course is estimated to be 15-20 hours. 

  • To receive the certificate of completion and the one-time incentive, you must complete the eight course projects by May 1, 2025.
  • Participate in Zoom sessions or review recorded lectures on Canvas,
  • Fully complete the two assigned projects each week. (2 projects x 4 weeks = 8 completed projects.) For the projects to meet completion requirements, they must adhere to the guidelines provided in Canvas.
  • Submit all work in Canvas*. 

*If your portfolio is incomplete, ignores concepts covered during the course, includes the work created in the past, or content created by others, you will not qualify for the incentive. If you have a question about the quality of the project and want to know if it meets the guidelines of the course, it is your responsibility to contact the instructor facilitator.

Incentives/Certifications upon Completion

Upon completion of all requirements, participants will receive a certificate of completion and a one-time incentive of $500.
