These FAQs explain the final rule under Title II (subpart H) of the Americans with Disabilities Act regarding web content and mobile app accessibility, including UTSA's requirement to make its digital content proactively accessible by April 24, 2026.

What is the Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)? 

Title II of the ADA requires state and local governments to ensure their services, programs, and activities are accessible to people with disabilities.  

How do I know if my content (e.g., website, course materials, fliers, email) is accessible?

What is the date for compliance?  

The ADA Title II new rules state that based on the size of the population we serve, UTSA has until April 24, 2026, to reach compliance.  

How do I know if the ADA Title II new rules apply to the content I create, share, or oversee?  

In most cases, the new rule will apply. However, if you have reviewed the section of this resource that outlines what is covered by the new rules and still have questions, please email the Digital Accessibility Team and Web Accessibility Coordinator.
