Notice: The Gradescope-Canvas integration will be available starting Tuesday, May 20th. In the meantime, instructors who wish to get started early can visit gradescope.com to create an account and begin exploring the platform.

For the 2025–2026 academic year, UTSA is focusing on bubble sheet exams in Gradescope to support a smooth transition from ParScore/Scantron. Faculty are welcome to explore other features, such as handwritten or coding assignments, but on-campus support will be limited. Gradescope Support is available for assistance with these additional features, and broader campus support will be introduced in a future phase.

About This Tool

Gradescope is a web-based grading platform designed to make assessment more efficient and consistent for instructors while improving the feedback experience for students. It supports a variety of assignment types, including multiple-choice bubble sheets, free-response questions, programming assignments, and handwritten submissions. Instructors can create and apply rubrics on the fly, reuse comments, and take advantage of AI-assisted grouping to speed up the grading process.

Gradescope also offers powerful analytics to help instructors identify trends, evaluate question effectiveness, and pinpoint student learning gaps. With the Canvas integration, instructors can sync course rosters, link assignments, and post grades directly to the gradebook. Whether you're teaching large lecture courses or smaller classes, Gradescope helps streamline grading and improve transparency for students.
