Getting Started with TidyUp (Faculty)

Updated on

Overview

TidyUp, a file scanning tool for Canvas, gives instructors a full view to quickly clean up files, folders, and Canvas content – pages, assignments, discussions, and quizzes – in a course. This tool helps declutter content that has accumulated over time, which in turn affects a course’s Ally score. This guide will provide an overview of TidyUp’s key features and offer practical resources to help you get started today.

Key Features of TidyUp:

  • Scan Courses: Quickly scan a course’s content to identify files, folders, and other Canvas content that is unused or in use.
  • Organize: Sort, filter, move, rename, or delete selected files, folders, and Canvas content all in one place.
  • Delete: Delete multiple unused, unpublished, outdated, or duplicate files, folders, and Canvas content.

How to Integrate TidyUp into Your Course

To get started with TidyUP, review the following how-to guides to learn how to run your first scan and understand how the tool works.

Note: Once files, pages, or content are deleted, they are permanently removed and cannot be recovered. Before using this tool, we highly recommend testing it in the development shell (“sandbox”) first and using its built-in feature to download a backup of any unused files from your live course.
