Best Practices for Using Peerceptiv for Students

Updated on

Overview

Peerceptiv is a peer review tool used in some UT San Antonio courses to enhance learning through student feedback. You will be asked to submit assignments and review your classmates' work using specific rubrics and deadlines. This guide explains how to navigate Peerceptiv successfully and what you need to know to get full credit.

1. Submitting Your Work

Submit your assignment by the initial submission deadline listed in Peerceptiv or your course syllabus. File types and word limits vary-check your assignment prompt for specific requirements. Once submitted, your work is anonymized before peer review begins.

2. Completing Peer Reviews

After submitting your work, you'll be assigned a set number of peer submissions to review (usually 3-5). Use the provided rubric to assess each submission fairly and constructively. Provide thoughtful written comments-quality feedback may affect your own review score. Finish all assigned reviews by the peer review deadline to receive full credit.

3. Receiving Feedback

Once the review period ends, you'll receive multiple peer reviews on your work. Pay attention to both the scores and written comments to help improve future work. Some instructors may include a revision step, where you edit your work based on peer feedback.

4. Rating Reviews (Optional or Required)

You may be asked to rate the helpfulness of the reviews you received. These ratings contribute to your classmates' reviewer scores and improve the system. Be honest and respectful focus on the value of the feedback, not whether it was positive or negative.

5. Earning Grades in Peerceptiv

Grades are typically based on a combination of:

  • Task completion (submitting, reviewing)
  • Review quality (how helpful your feedback was)
  • Participation timeliness

Missing deadlines can result in partial or no credit, even if the work is submitted late. Review your instructor's grading policy for specific details.

6. Best Practices for Students

Plan ahead: Don't wait until the last minute to submit or review. Be constructive: Give feedback you'd want to receive-clear, respectful, and helpful. Ask if unsure: Contact your instructor if you're confused about deadlines or expectations.
